Dorothy is a lover of culture, crafts and nature; crafts that depict the ways indigenous people have evolved over time.
She is also passionate about equality, fairness and helping the vulnerable in society. She has worked to uplift the living standards of the poor in society by providing them ways and means of etching out a living from local resources. She works with these artisans to create handcrafted products while providing them with sustainable and fair employment.
It all started when she went to the local crafts market to purchase a gift for one of her daughter’s friend who lives in England. The sculptures and craftsmen and women lamented on how business has become slow, especially during and after the corona virus pandemic.
Looking at the living quarters of these artisans and the fact that they had travelled far from their villages to stay months on end to sell their wares, deeply distressed her and she came up with the idea of creating a website via Shopify to expose the beautiful, authentic crafts to the whole world, so that the world can also experience and feel the vibes that emanate from truly indigenous woods and grass – be part of the wild unspoiled African ambience by bringing this beauty into their homes and offices. To show case arts and crafts that calm, relax and transport minds back to mother nature.
The trees, grass, stones and any other material used in the crafting of these beautiful artifacts are all handmade by African villagers and derived from indigenous resources while adhering to conservation methods.
IT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL AND CARING TO SUPPORT THESE VILLAGE ARTISANS TO MAKE A MEANINGFUL LIFE.
